Hello! I’m Cassandra. Thank you for connecting! I am an ICEEFT certified EFT therapist and supervisor in training. I always enjoy working and journeying with people. It is my passion to integrate my faith, professional knowledge, skills and life experiences to support people in need of a lift as they face their life challenges. Having been through my own healing journey, I understand that seeking help and talking to a stranger can be difficult and overwhelming. In our time together, our therapeutic relationship is my priority and I am committed to walk alongside you with respect, empathy, compassion, and warmth so that you can feel safe to explore your issues as we work towards your goals.
Believing human beings are wired for connection, I utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) as my primary modality to individual, couple, and family therapy. EFT is an attachment and evidence-based therapy that integrates a humanistic, experiential approach to restructuring emotional experiences in terms of human functioning instead of pathology. Through the lens of EFT, I collaborate with you to understand your emotional experiences of your distress, and to restructure those experiences so that you can reconnect to yourself and others to lead a more fulfilling life and to pursue healthier relationships. In my sessions, you will be respected and supported to make meaningful changes according to your pace. I also draw on Family System Theory, Somatic Attachment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Focusing, Mindfulness, and trauma-inform approaches to meet your treatment needs. I offer counselling in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
Personally, I’m a mother of two bright young men whom I’m so very proud of and forever grateful for. They’ve brought me enormous joy and adventure in motherhood; and they are my best teachers in parenting. My own marriage had gone through a lot of stormy seasons that humbled me as a wife, a mother, a person, and a therapist. Outside of sessions, you will find me enjoying time with family and friends, gardening, listening to music, enjoying movies, or working on home projects. I look forward to journeying with you.
When life becomes too stressful, we may contemplate giving up. Yet the ebb and flow of life is not without meaning and purpose. The good news is that the hardships you face in life are just the beginning of healing and transformation and not the conclusion. There is hope for a brighter future; therefore, we do not have to live in the current plight. I am eager to understand your emotional predicaments, journey together on the road to recovery, and come to realize the strength and hope that resides within you.
Most of the time, our anxiety, depression, and other emotional turmoil are caused by disconnected relationships. I utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) as my fundamental modality for families, couples, and individuals to facilitate emotional well-being and reestablish fulfilling relationships with others. Instead of pathologizing psychological distresses, I employ a client-centric and holistic perspective by listening to and comprehending your concerns, taking into account your emotions, cognitions, behaviours, family of origin, trauma, and religion/spirituality. Together, we can obtain insight into how these elements interact and influence your concerns. As an integrative psychotherapist, my approach is also informed by Family Systems Theory, Attachment Theory, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
In my professional journey, I have worked with children, adolescents, and their families in numerous specialized programs. I have worked with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, emotion dysregulation, family conflict, grief, trauma, relationship issues, behavioural challenges, self-esteem/self-worth concerns, stress, and trouble adjusting to life transitions. As a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator, I also offer premarital counselling.
Sometimes life is so difficult that your only way out is to take the next step. I hope to meet you there when you proceed to the next step. Our counselling sessions can be conducted in English, Cantonese or Mandarin.
